Ovacik, Hisaronu & Olu Deniz
about the village and its neighbours
Ovacik (top picture) is the neighbouring village to Hisaronu, and lies on the mountain road between Fethiye and Olu Deniz amongst the pines on the lower slopes of Babadag.
The area boasts a rugged and beautiful landscape, making it an ideal base for for activity holidays. Its location means that you can paraglide in Olu Deniz one day, canoe down the Xanthos river to Patara the next, paintball in the pine forests of Kaya Koyu and still take an overnight trip to the classical ruins of Ephesus. However, if you just want to relax on the beach, Ovacik is only 3km from Oludeniz beach, with a dolmus running there every 5 or 10 minutes.
Being spread out along the road means there isn't a resort centre as such, but facilities are available a short walk away in Hisaronu (centre picture).
Set on a high plateau and surrounded by stunning mountains, Hisaronu is a lively resort which has a distinctly British atmosphere. The village is full of bars, restaurants and shops, and there is plenty to do here in the evening.
Olu Deniz Beach (bottom picture) is Turkey's most beautiful, most famous and most popular beach, but its size also means it's big enough to handle the crowds of swimmers and sunbathers. It takes its eerie name (Olu Deniz means 'Dead Sea') from the secluded lagoon at the beach's western end. Protected by hills and entered by a narrow channel, the lagoon is calm during even the worst storms.
There really is something for everyone here, so why not come and visit?
